Thanks for a great season!

Holly S. Anderson The sun sets on Camden Snow Bowl.

March 26 was bittersweet, as we made the difficult decision to close for the season, effective immediately.

The 2020-2021 ski season has been unprecedented in numerous ways. First, Mother Nature did not bless us with buckets of natural snow like she has in past years. Second, Covid-19 upended many of the ways we have done business in the past, including forcing us to close the lodge and move many of our processes online. Those changes alone affected staff and guests alike.

Despite the challenges, everybody rose to the occasion! Staff learned how to Zoom during the pre-season. Season pass holders made good use of email and mastered our webshop, buying way more season passes than we imagined they would in a pandemic. Our seasonal crews adapted to new procedures and managed to keep each other and the public safe on the mountain.

Regardless of frustrating bouts of warm weather, our snowmakers and groomers were rock stars. They managed to put enough snow, in all the right places, so we could exceed the number of operating days our budget normally covers.

This mountain could not operate the way it does without the continued devotion of the many dozens of volunteers who make up our Ski Patrol and Mountain Steward rosters. Our appreciation for their willingness to endure cold temperatures and windy conditions cannot be stressed enough. On top of that, they did yeoman's work answering questions, providing direction, and offering advice day in and day out. And they did it with nary a complaint all season.

And our guests were shining stars, as they mastered the art of wearing masks, maintaining social distance and using portable toilets while wearing ski boots. They were patient, understanding and grateful to be outside, in fresh air, at such a lovely place as Ragged Mountain.

Thank you to everyone who made this a great year at the Snow Bowl, in spite of it being a pandemic year. Through perseverance and at times hard work, we were all successful in keeping staff and guests safe and healthy. And if the volume of season pass, daily lift ticket and rental equipment sales are any indicator, we gave a record number of people the good time they needed this winter.
