"Far East Flair" at Vintage Accents Auctions on February 9

WARREN, ME:  On Wednesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m., Vintage Accents Auctions will present “Far East Flair”, an online auction of over 500 lots of Chinese antiques, artifacts, and decorative accessories, including porcelain objects, fine furniture, paintings & drawings, carvings, textiles, antiquities, and enamel & metal work.

Featured Chinese porcelain lots include: a pair of blue and white lidded temple jars with Phoenix bird and trailing lotus decoration; a 19th Century blanc de chine figure of legendary Buddhist monk Bodhidharma seated above the waves; and a pair of rouleau floor vases with painted scenes of woman and children playing in a garden.

There will be a variety of furniture on offer, such as: a black lacquered robe cabinet painted with flowers, scholar’s tools and fortune symbols, with three interior shelves; an early 20th Century Tibetan polychrome painted chest; and a “Kang” form elmwood low storage cabinet.

A watercolor and ink scroll painting of lotus blossoms and sturgeon by Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) and “The Historical Story of Twenty-Four Filial Sons” an early 20th Century book of watercolor on rice paper paintings will lead the selection of fine two-dimensional artwork.

Among the many carved pieces in the sale, there will be a delicate boxwood carving of a standing Guanyin figure, possibly created during the reign of the Kangxi emperor (1662-1722); and two jade cong vessels; and a variety of carved jade amulets, sculptures and utensils.

Other items of interest will include: an archaic form Peking glass lidded jar, bronze lidded censer with foo dog finial; a pair of Song Dynasty bottle form glazed pottery funerary offering urns; and a lot of two enamel on copper snuff bottles.

Items to be sold can be viewed online beginning on January 27, 2022, and participants can register and place pre-auction (or absentee) bids any time prior to 10:00 a.m. EST on February 9.  The live auction will commence at 10:00 EST on February 9, and registered participants may place bids on items as they come up for sale.
